Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is currently recruiting for a Patient Services Representative in our Charlotte office. This position will be responsible for all incoming emails and phone calls received in the billing department from our patients and resolving any outstanding problem or issue that requires resolution.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Respond to all phone messages and emails received by patients within the departments standardized time frames. 
  • Utilize all available resources and tools (billing system, medical record system, insurance websites etc.) in responding to patients inquiries.
  • Maintain relationships and open communication with operational and billing staff and utilize resources to understand issues and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Handle disgruntled and dissatisfied patients in a courteous and profession manner.
  • Identify and communicate potential billing issues, front desk issues, etc. as a result of phone calls and emails.
  • Follow escalation procedures as needed.
  • Appropriately document all interactions with patients.
  • Able to work efficiently in a high volume call center/ customer service environment.
  • Post Payments and make necessary adjustments.
  • Works closely with the client relations department regarding patient complaints.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge in HIPAA compliance
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to respond to regulatory inquiries to ensure compliance within state laws
  • Strong independent and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and individuals
  • Knowledge of multi-specialty billing is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within time constraints Outstanding Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate/correspond clearly, professionally and courteously in writing and verbally
  • Education/Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor’s degree or 1- 3 years of experience of related experience in medical field or health insurance + 1- 3 years of customer service experience
