Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is currently recruiting for a Health Information Management (HIM) Customer Service Associate. This position will be based in our Charlotte, NC office. The HIM Customer Service Associate will be responsible for answering calls from patients, physicians, insurance companies and law offices requesting medical record and inquires. This position offers competitive pay as well as potential year end bonus.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • The Health Information Management (HIM) Department’s primary responsibility is to provide easy record access while ensuring privacy, and enhancing the patient experience.
  • The HIM Customer Service Associate is responsible for answering all inbound calls from patients and third party requestors regarding release of protected health information.
  • HIM Customer Service Associate will perform release of information duties in accordance with HIPAA, State, and Federal Law. In addition the HIM Customer Service Associate will be responsible for accepting payments for records and assist callers with locating forms on WESTMED Practice Partner’s website and how to complete forms.
  • The HIM Customer Service Associate will foster working relationships with the Release of Information Associates and other departments to ensure timely resolution related to any issues with daily operations.

 

 

Required Qualifications

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree preferred.
  • Associate Degree in HIM preferred.
  • RHIT credential a plus.

 Experience:

  • Minimum of one year working in a health information management department, large outpatient clinic, or acute care facility required.
  • High Volume Call Center Experience is accepted in lieu of relevant experience.

Performance Standards for Specialty Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience using basic computer programs and office equipment and good typing skills required. 
  • Strong customer service skills, organizational skills, ability to multitask required.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multitask and great attention to detail required. 
  • Knowledge of release of information procedures and medical terminology preferred.
  • Work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
