Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is currently recruiting for a HIM Associate. This position will be based in our Charlotte, NC location. The HIM associate will be responsible for answering calls from patients, physicians, insurance companies and law offices requesting medical record and inquires.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Understands of the Release of Information (ROI) process, including HIPAA compliance and Organization Policies and Procedures.
  • Answers phone calls in a timely, proficient manner in accordance with HIM Policies and Procedures. 
  • Assists patients in completing authorizations.
  • Meets productivity and quality goals/standards as set by the Department.
  • Customer / Patient Service
  • Acknowledges patients/customers promptly in a warm, courteous manner; proactively offers to help and responds to requests for help;  receives and answers patients/customers in a calm, reassuring manner; focuses attention on patients vs. personal business; answers phones, returns calls, and responds to in-person questions promptly; provides accurate information while demonstrating empathy; takes appropriate actions to ensure focus is quality patient care; treats patients, co-workers, physicians, practitioners, and colleagues as “customers”, courteous at all times; adheres to all WMG customer service standards

Required Qualifications

Qualifications, all candidates must have the following:

  • Prior medical office experience required.
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging behavior by adhering to the company’s Success Profile: Confidence, Integrity, Pride and Passion.
  • Prior medical office experience required.
  • Experience using basic computer programs and office equipment and good typing skills required.
  • Knowledge of release of information procedures and medical terminology preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills, organizational skills, ability to multitask required.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multitask and great attention to detail required.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Cross coverage may be necessary, therefore a measure of flexibility to respond adequately to changing demands is required. Employees are expected to maintain a positive attitude and patient-minded vision, with customer satisfaction as the continuing goal.
  • Associate Degree in HIM preferred.
