  • Position Summary

    WESTMED Medical Group has a full-time position for Sterile Processing Technician  in the Instrument Sterilization department at the office location in Purchase, NY. 


    Services provided by this position include preparation and packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments. Dependable and reliable service is expected to assure instruments are processed and distributed in an accurate and timely manner in order to enhance the quality of patient care.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    • Clean instruments with appropriate solution, scrub brushes, etc.
    • Pass all hinged instruments through ultrasound.
    • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and wear before packaging.
    • Package instruments with appropriate labeling.
    • Sterilize instruments using autoclave/magnaclave.
    • Document instrument batches. 
    • Document spore test daily.
    • Clean autoclave/magnaclave per protocol. 
    • Ensure autoclave/magnaclave is functioning efficiently.
    • Return instruments to appropriate departments
    • Ensure instruments are stored in a safe and sterile fashion.
    • Run a minimum of two batches daily.


    Required Qualifications

    • CRCST Certification required
    • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
    • Flexibility with hours and job duties
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Strong computer skills, EMR experience preferred
