Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is currently seeking a Coding Compliance Specialist to join our team. This individual will be a key member of the Coding Compliance team and will partner with other departments within WESTMED to ensure successful completion of position responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

A Coding Compliance Specialist is responsible for improving the overall accuracy, integrity, and quality of provider documentation. This person performs quality reviews on coding, documentation, and/or billing and feedback with supporting documentation for recommended code changes. In this role you will also coordinate, develop, and conduct educational coding compliance training with coders, billers, physicians, and others on documentation requirements and correct coding. As the Coding Compliance Specialist, you will also identify when documentation is missing, ambiguous, copy pasted/cloned or contradictory and audit for correct coding of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPC), modifiers, National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI) edits and coding or billing accuracy in accordance with federal and state guidelines. Collaborate with staff members as a coding compliance resource. Dissect, explain, and educate on both set of E/M guidelines and their relation to documentation. Support organizations in the development and implementation of measurable coding and billing quality plan objectives and results.

Required Qualifications

  • Coding, Compliance, ICD9-10: 3 years
  • Bachelors required
  • CPC, AAPC required
