Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is currently seeking a Medical Records Manager. The Health Information Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and managing all aspects of health information management (HIM) services in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Manages daily operations of the HIM services
  • Works cooperatively with HIM Sr. Manager to assure smooth operation of the department. Assists Senior Manager in developing Policies and Procedures for HIM functions and process improvement.
  • Develops and maintains metrics for productivity and quality
  • Interacts with third party company personnel and legal counsel in discussing complex and/ or difficult release of information requests to minimize liability of releasing patient information.
  • Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates the performance of staff
  • Serves as a liaison between the HIM and IT Departments to maintain functionality of HIM equipment.
  • Serves on organizational committees and attends management meetings as requested.
  • Provides feedback and guidance to HIM Team to ensure that all department functions are handled promptly in accordance with HIM Policies, Procedures and guidelines.
  • Provides feedback and solutions to Sr. Manager on problems identified within the department.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in staff educational activities to optimize department performance
  • Application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • ROI or HIM experience required
  • Bachelor’s and/or Associates Degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration or health related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Current certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA) as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) strongly preferred.
  • At least three (3) recent years supervisory/management experience.
  • Demonstrates excellence in written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications required.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of HIPAA laws
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision
