Position Summary

Westmed is currently seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist for Molecular / Anatomic Pathology testing at the AP Laboratory White Plains, NY office. The schedule is Monday - Friday early afternoon/evening shift. 


The Medical Laboratory Technologist is accountable for the accuracy and reliability of all testing run under his/her supervision, both patient and Q.C. material; and performing accurately tissue sections for pathological interpretation in a timely manner.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all testing is performed accordingly to established, approved procedures and quality control policies, and under optimal condition (ie. instruments functioning properly; reagents in good condition and proper technique followed.)
  • Perform molecular HPV and GC/Chlamydia testing.
  • Performs Pathology grossing of specimens with dissection accordingly.
  • Maintain storage and disposal of  HPV, GC/CT specimens at all times, and be able to retrieve specimens as needed.
  • Must participates in the Quality Control Program for reagents and tests as per section protocol, and record daily Quality Control of all instruments used as assigned Performs preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting procedures on all instruments accordingly.
  • Consults with pathologists, Management staff, and other personnel as necessary.
  • Maintain constant  work flow with Cytology specimens and communicates accordingly to the team.
  • Knowledgeable in LIS applications for Molecular/Histology/Cytology to perform job duties, recommended.
  • Perform other ancillary duties as directed by competent authority.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in biology, chemistry or the physical sciences required.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required, HTL, and/or ASCP preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Laboratory field
  • Ability to train in Molecular testing required
