Position Summary

WESTMED Practice Partners is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join the Finance team at our office location in Purchase, New York.  Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions including general ledger account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, month-end close tasks, and contributing to the financial processes necessary to maintain accurate financial records.  Position schedule is Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prepares and creates journal entries as necessary.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement)
  • Analyze revenue and expense accounts to ensure that monthly transactions are recorded appropriately
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining fixed asset account ledgers and calculating depreciation on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for verifying benefit & payroll liability account balances
  • Preparation of invoices for clients and sub-tenants and tracking their respective receivable balances
  • Maintaining accurate prepaid schedules and booking the proper expenses on a monthly basis
  • Reconciliation of intercompany account balances
  • Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Preparation of departmental cost allocation schedules
  • Analysis of monthly income statements
  • Handle special assignments and responsibilities as requested by department CEO/Controller including, but not limited to, ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Provides assistances to A/P staff regarding proper expense coding and provides feedback
  • Properly tracks and processes physician business expenses
  • Assists with the preparation on policy and procedure documents
  • Assist with corporate reporting requirements including annual census surveys, sales tax filings and other monthly, quarterly, and annual state filings
  • Properly update monthly close tracking module by gathering all relevant close backup and updating the progress of each specific close tasks
  • Assist with the creation and monthly maintenance of financial and operational dashboards
  • Communicate accounting issues with upper management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • CPA designation/track preferred
  • 1-3 years accounting/finance experience
  • •Highly detail oriented and organized in work 
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Proficiency with complex Microsoft Excel Functions
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
