Position Summary

Westmed Medical Group is currently seeking a Medical Assistant/Surgical Specialties float for the Orthopedics department for the following NY offices: White Plains, Purchase, and Yonkers. Position schedule is Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00  pm with flexibility and variation in hours and schedule to meet department needs required. The Medical Assistant works as part of a health care team by assisting the physician in providing high quality patient care in a professional, efficient and safe manner. The Medical Assistant will also provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients, while managing time efficiently for the practice to maintain patient flow.  

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

OFFICE VISITS:

  • Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into exam room.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, as needed.
  • Assist patient and physician throughout the visit
  • Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately.
  • Maintains clean patient exam rooms.
  • Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice.
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies, as needed.
  • Communicates delays effectively when necessary

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones.
  • Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels.

 CHARTING:

  • Enters patient information into the computer accurately.  
  • Manages the physician’s desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner.

Required Qualifications

 
  • Medical Assistant certificate or completion of a MA program required
  • Medical office experience preferred
  • Must be able to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience is a plus
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills​, EMR experience preferred
