Position Summary

This position is responsible for posting all electronic and manual insurance payments received in Billing Department. Also responsible for posting electronic lockboxes and manual patient checks received in department.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

The essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

•Posts insurance payments including all bill types and corresponding contractual adjustments to patient accounts.
•Posts unidentified payments into correct specifically assigned accounts.
•Corrects and posts debit/credit adjustments of misapplied payments to ensure accurate and timely reporting of accounts.
•Prepares and runs appropriate daily reconciliation reports timely.
•Posts Batches timely according to department guidelines
•Gathers and maintains appropriate fee schedule information and reviews claim payments for accuracy and compliance.

Required Qualifications

•1 year experience in medical billing
•Experience in a healthcare environment
•Ability to read and understand insurance company payment remittances and explanation of benefits.
•Excellent communication skills
•Demonstrates a commitment to service, organization values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.

 

Required education: High school equivalent

 

Required Minimum Experience : Worked in healthcare setting performing prior authorizations. 1-2 years experience in medical billing or payment posting.

 

Required Skills : Good communication skills and organizational skills. Experience in computer usage and Medical Terminology preferred. The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude.
