Position Summary

WESTMED Medical Group is seeking a full time Pediatric Clinical Educator to support the Pediatrics department at the White Plains, New York office location.  This position supports a busy pediatrics department with 12 physicians across 3 office locations.  Position schedule is Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm plus 1 Saturday per month (half day).

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Triage patient calls / documents in phone note / schedules appointment when needed
  • Patient follow up post ER visits and hospitalizations
  • Provides clinical direction to support staff
  • Orients and precepts new clinical staff, provides medication tests and clinical competencies
  • Oversees documentation of clinical staff in EMR to assure accuracy in a timely manner
  • Vaccine and medication administration
  • Counseling/Teaching to patient/family
  • Administration of tests/procedures/treatments- EKG, nebulizer, urinalysis, urine cultures, rapid strep/ throat culture, urinary catheterizations
  • Assist physicians as needed with clinical procedures
  • Knowledgeable of MA/LPN workflow
  • Knowledgeable of vaccine schedules, medications, drug calculations
  • NYSIIS and Synagis coordinator in conjunction with designated LPN’s
  • Supervises flu clinic
  • Oversees reports and delegates to clinical staff as needed; 1) admin hold 2) MVP report 3) Vaccine Dashboards 4) GAP reports 5) DOH 6) Bexsero 7) NYSIIS rejection 8) Missed Physical Appts

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Overseeing clinical staff logging refrigerator temperatures every AM/PM
  • Review MD schedules; print out scheduled physicals in preparation for vaccines.
  • Review desktop and emails from Provider/MA/LPN/RN when necessary
  • Oversees Vaccine Inventory and ordering for private and state
  • Preloads: to be verified with NYSIIS (this will only apply if patient was seen in clinic/practice prior in NY State)
  • Follow up to patients on POL advice related issues from providers

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Ability to immediately obtain Connecticut licensure if not already licensed
  • Pediatrics experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills, EMR experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced, busy environment
